How Sunkissed Was Born
Sometimes, the best ideas come from the simplest moments in life.
For us, that moment was when our daughter, Trina, was born.
My husband, Siddhart Jatia , and I have been in the optical business for nearly 20 years, with our family business, Star Opticals, based in Delhi and Noida. Eyewear has always been a big part of our lives. We understood frames, lenses, fit and everything that goes into creating good eyewear.
But when we became parents, We looked at eyewear very differently.
Like every new parents, we wanted to dress our little girl in the cutest clothes, find the most adorable accessories and capture every little moment. And we soon realised that a tiny pair of sunglasses could completely transform a child’s look.
They added that little wow factor.
But when we actually started looking for sunglasses for Trina, we were surprised by how difficult it was to find a pair that ticked all the boxes.
I wanted something comfortable enough for a child to happily wear, soft and gentle on delicate skin, with good-quality lenses to protect young eyes—and at the same time, something stylish, fun and fashion-forward.
Because, as parents we want our children to look fabulous. We want those picture-perfect moments. But we also know that when it comes to our little ones, comfort and protection have to come first.
And that’s when we thought—
Why don’t we create exactly what we are looking for?
What started as a thought for our own daughter slowly became an idea for something much bigger.
We decided to create children’s sunglasses that brought together our experience as opticians with our understanding of what parents really want for their children.
It wasn’t something we wanted to rush.
We took our time finding the right materials, exploring shapes, working on fit, choosing colours, refining the details and, most importantly, getting the comfort right.
We wanted every pair to feel good on a child, look beautiful and fashionable, and give parents the confidence that they were choosing eyewear thoughtfully designed for their little ones.
And after a long journey of designing, testing and perfecting, Sunkissed Eyewear was born.
Today, Sunkissed is a world of playful colours, fun shapes, beautiful designs and little details that make children want to wear their sunglasses—and make parents fall in love with them too.
But behind every pair is the same thought with which we started:
If we wouldn’t compromise when it came to our own child, why should we expect any other parent to?
That’s what Sunkissed stands for.
Style they love. Comfort they enjoy. Protection parents trust.
And perhaps the most special part of our journey is when a mother picks up a pair of Sunkissed sunglasses, looks at the detailing, feels the quality and says,
“ You can actually see how much thought has gone into these.”
That is exactly what we hoped people would feel.
Because Sunkissed isn’t just a brand we created.
It is a brand born from a parents search for the perfect pair of sunglasses for their daughter.
And it all began with Trina.
